Wooden Lamp

In the seminar, participants will construct wooden lighting fixtures of contemporary design while learning about wood and its characteristics, tools and carpentry techniques.

What does the Workshop include?

Theoretical part

Wood & other materials technology: In the theoretical part of the program we will learn about the different types of wood, their technical and macroscopic characteristics so that we can choose the right wood depending on the application. We will also talk about engineered wood (osb, plywood, particleboard, etc.) as well as auxiliary materials such as glues, varnishes, etc.

Introduction to hand tools and woodworking machines: The hand tools used in woodworking will be presented in detail and woodworking machines (bandsaws, planers, cutting discs, etc.) will be presented and explained. We will see which of these machines you can easily and affordably acquire for your own workshop.

Laboratory part

Wooden Lamp Construction: For this seminar we have designed a wooden lamp with a modern design. After discussing the technical drawings of the object and the construction steps, each participant will construct their own lamp with the guidance of the teachers. In addition to the base of the lamp, we will also see the entire process of assembling the electrical parts of the lamp, cables, socket, switch. The seminar provides basic materials such as wood, cables, simple E27 bulbs. If you want your construction to stand out, you can bring decorative Edison bulbs that will enhance the result.
