What does the Workshop include?
Theoretical part
Wood & other materials technology: In the theoretical part of the program we will learn about the different types of wood, their technical and macroscopic characteristics so that we can choose the right wood depending on the application. We will also talk about engineered wood (osb, plywood, particleboard, etc.) as well as auxiliary materials such as glues, varnishes, etc.
Introduction to hand tools and woodworking machines: The hand tools used in carpentry will be presented in detail and woodworking machines (bandsaws, planers, cutting discs, etc.) will be presented and explained. We will see which of these machines you can easily and affordably acquire for your own workshop.
Laboratory part
Wooden Chaise Longue Construction: Participants will construct a Wooden Chaise Longue with the guidance of the teacher. We will start by analyzing and understanding the technical drawings. Then, students will participate in the individual preparation and assembly tasks in order to become familiar with the use of tools and machines as well as the steps of construction. At the end of the lesson, students will have made the wooden frame of their own Chaise Longue armchair and will assemble the fabric that will have already been prepared by the teachers.
