What does the Workshop include?
In this seminar, participants will learn in detail the techniques of designing and manufacturing leather wallets with hand tools.
Theoretical part:
Introduction to leather and leatherworking materials: In the theoretical part of the program, we will learn the types of leather used in leatherworking, their origin and the factory processing of each one. We will analyze their qualitative and macroscopic characteristics so that we can identify them and choose the appropriate leather depending on the construction. We will also talk about other leatherworking materials such as the various types of leather dyes, dyes for soles, glues and solvents, polishes, threads, etc.
The hand tools used in leather craft will be presented in detail and the various types of wallets will be presented.
Laboratory part:
Leather surface treatment:
The seminar will present the technique of dyeing natural leather with leather impregnation dyes as well as polishing the surface with polishing waxes and ointments.
Wallet Design
The seminar will present the logic of wallet design and the process of designing individual patterns.
Making a leather wallet with hand tools :
Then, ready-made patterns will be given to the participants to mark on the leather and cut. The leather will be dyed and we will proceed to assemble the construction. In this part, we will learn to handle the leather, the sequence of construction tasks as well as saddlestitch hand sewing with two needles and waxed thread.
